Christmas is a very special time of year at the White House. You can always count on ‘The Tree’ making national news, as well as the First Lady’s holiday preparations. Christmas is generally known as a time of joy, a time of peace.
With our country at war, Christmas 2001 at the White House promises to be a memorable time of great reflection, a symbolic gate that opens to a wiser America, the innocence awakened.

The September attacks on America have served to shed new light on patriotism, intensifying our allegiance and pure love of country. Americans will look to the President, our leader, for guidance, comfort and hope during this fragile time of year.

Christmas is a time of analysis in all areas; many Americans will spend time reflecting on the precious past, and setting new goals and dreams for their future. We’ll ponder the events of the year and their significance; we’ll question our personal worth to the world. And amid all our wondering, the festivities of life will surround us.

In the center of all these terrible atrocities that have invaded our country, stands a symbol of light, of hope, of sacrifice, of benevolence, of love; the Christmas Tree.
