Learning fascinates children. In fact, discovery - at any age - keeps the brain active and more productive. With kids, learning is a bit like a wildfire, once you are able to locate the 'perfect' learning tool. For example, if your child shows an interest in music then he may be the future Beethoven of this century!

As a parent or teacher, you provide these learning suggestions and tools and your child, or student, can take them as far as their dreams carry them. It's best to always provide several avenues of opportunity for your kids. Take time to introduce them to 'what's out there'. Generally, personal interests carry into adulthood and many times people are able to secure employment in the areas that fascinated them as children.

A very simple experiment that will introduce your child, or student, to biology is outlined below. Remember to always supervise small children.

You Will Need
2-6 cups (depending on how many examples of color you want to incorporate into your experiment)
dirt
seeds, such as beans
water
different colors of plastic wrap (clear, blue, green, yellow, pink, purple)

What To Do
Plant the same type of seed in each cup. Water, then cover each cup with a different color of plastic wrap. Secure the plastic with a rubberband. Monitor the experiment daily to note growth results. See if your child can predict which seedling will experience the fastest growth rate.

As a note, you can opt to use colored lighting rather than plastic wrap.
