What a Tweet Birdcage! It's time for all the biddies to round up the kids for a fun, easy, pretty, and very economical bird craft. The hardest part is choosing the color of the birdcage! Make a birdcage today. The featured birdcage is yet another version that can be easily created using a frame, some colorful silk flowers and a few decorative accents.
Cut the netting into 3-inch squares. Working with one square at a time, bunch and tie in the center with one tiny wire. Twist the wire, leaving about ½ inch on the end of your twist. Later, this tip will get 'pushed' into the Styrofoam cylinders. After making a large stack of the twisted netting, begin filling your cylinders until you can't see any of the Styrofoam. The thicker your netting, the prettier your birdcage! Once your cylinders are thickly covered, make a 'bird swing' out of one of the pipe cleaners and attach it to the 'ceiling' of one of the cylinders. Place the bird on the swing; set aside. Next, begin attaching the pipe cleaners until they completely encircle your other cylinder. Finally, attach the pipe cleaners to the cylinder that is holding your bird swing. To hang, you can create small circles out of the pipe cleaners, looping them into one another as you work. Hang from a hook attached to the ceiling. Add beauty by filling your cage with a pretty flower or other small craft item, such as a bee. Click Here to Return to House of Hen Click Here to Return to American Outback |
