Ye Old Valentine's Day FeastValentine's Day is just around ye corner! Make yon feast merry with roasted rosemary hen…
Go to yon village on the morrow before ye old Valentine's Day and fetch one hefty game hen. Add one sack of fresh stringed beans, two beastly tators, one loaf of flour-dusted bread, a bottle of red cherries, a two-liter bottle of Coke, and a box of Ding-Dongs. Pay shoppe tenant four hundred farthings, load cart, instruct donkey to walk home. After returning to yon stick-knitted house, snatch some springs of fresh rosemary from ye old herb garden. Make haste to prepare yon Valentine bird! Vigorously rub hen with olive oil until a visible sheen appears. Grind up rosemary, add some pounded salt, a smidgen of pepper, then dust yon hen. Place seasoned chick in lager so seasonings will permeate meat.
On the morrow, the day known far and wide as Valentine's Day, remove yon cluck and thread on roasting spit. Hang spit over fire that holds a yellow blaze. Use care when placing bird in suspension for yon hair and eyebrows can quickly smolder. Use child to rotate hen on spit for about one turn of yon clock. Yon hen is done when juices run clear as poked with husband's oxen branding iron. As rosemary hen roasts, tear strings from beans, add water from creek and cook. Toss the beastly tators onto the fire below the cooking bird. As feast cooks, prepare dessert. Stuff Ding-Dongs with at least one red cherry. Juice draining is optional. Pile feast onto large platter for loved ones. Add wooden bowls, plates, flagons (for Coke) and one large hammer to the bounty table. Hammer will be used to crack black chunks from tators.
