Nocturnal
Animals
Squirrels
and most birds turn in for the night, finding a safe,
dry spot until day breaks and it's time once again
to go scampering about for food. But not all take cover
for night's embrace. Here are a few animals that make
up Nature's Graveyard Shift:
Possums:
A moonlit walk in the woods, may prove Hiker-Lucky for
spotting a possum hanging by its tail from a tree branch.
Possums are sweet critters; we've raised and rescued
more than a few. Surprising
Possum Fact:
They are highly resistant to rabies.
Racoon:
Think about it - "It's impossible to raid trash
cans in the light of day."
Owls:
Note the large eyes on the owl. 'The better to see
you with my dear.' The large eyes are very sensitive
to daylight, thus making this smooth operator a definite
Night Owl.
Bats:
There is a close connected to the bat and vampires.
In fact, some bats are even Vampire
Bats.
Nocturnal
Animals: Other
night spirits include: rattlesnake, deer, armadillo,
flying squirrel, wolf, sugar glider, porcupine, skunk,
bobcat, fox, fireflies and frogs.
